About me
Allison began her journey working with children during her undergraduate years at Ohio University, where she was first introduced to the Reggio Emilia approach. This inspiring experience in an early childcare center sparked her commitment to progressive education. After several years in Chicago from 2009 to 2013, Allison moved to Thailand to broaden her international experience. She taught at a Reggio Emilia school under the mentorship of Mia Cavalca, the school’s Atelierista, and attended professional development meetings with pedagogistas from Italy. When she returned to Chicago in 2017, Allison joined Bennett Day School as an early childhood educator. She has continued to deepen her knowledge by participating in the Reggio Emilia study group in Italy and attending numerous conferences and professional development sessions. Allison has expanded her role to lead professional development at Bennett and a local daycare, and she has presented on family partnerships and documentation at ISACS, The Alliance for Early Childhood. Her passion for learning alongside children is evident in the open-ended projects she designs, encouraging children to explore the many languages of learning and expression.
